Neutrino is proud to offer workshops in long-form improvisation, the Harold, basic improvised scene work, and improvising for the camera. We are interested in utilizing our diverse and extensive teaching experience to tailor an improv workshop specific to your needs. Please contact us at: workshops@neutrinonation.com.
Below are a few sample workshops. Keep in mind we can tailor any class to your experience level and number of participants:
Stage Improv Workshop
Key concepts: Bold Decisions, Right Now; "Yes… And"; Making the other person look good; and Group Mind.
This workshop incorporates movement-based exercises into an exploration of the primary tenets of improvisation. Also emphasized: creating a rich environment for your scenes, committing to your decisions, and beginning with the body as inspiration. This is all accomplished through short three-line scenes, physically building improvised spaces, and basic "Yes, And..." exercises.
Advanced Stage Improv and Introduction to Video Improv Workshop
Key Concepts: The Harold; Vulnerability; Trust; More "Yes… And"; Video Improvising; and Why Silence is Important.
The Video Improv Workshop reviews the concepts from the Stage Improv workshop and gives the actors a chance to improvise in longer scenes together. The classic long form improvisational form, the Harold, is explained. Emphasis is placed on finding agreement in the reality of the scene before moving on with any relationship or plot devices. In the last third of the workshop, Video Improvisation is explained and some short scenes are shot in the studio space.
Advanced Video Improv Workshop
Key Concepts: Small steps; Allowing every part of your body to broadcast your intention; Stop Thinking, Just React.
The Advanced Video Improv Workshop takes the students out of the studio and into everyday situations to shoot improvised scenes. The workshop consists of shooting with the students, then reviewing the tapes with the instructors' notes, and shooting again.
Harold Bootcamp
This class specializes in teaching the classic improv long form, the Harold. Created by Del Close at Improv Olympic in Chicago, the Harold is the mother of all long form pieces. Once you've mastered the Harold, everything else is cake. Neutrino has been trained in the Harold directly by the Upright Citizens Brigade, who trained directly with Del in Chicago.
Flexible fee structure available upon request.
